In the Warriors' home opener, Stanley Kaczmar hit two singles and a double and scored three times. Yassir Kahook, a Toledo commit, earned the win for Walsh, which improved to 2-0.

St. Vincent-St. Mary 3, Youngstown Mooney 0

Right-hander Garrett Bischof threw five shutout innings and helped his cause with two singles, a double and an RBI, as the Fighting Irish opened their season at Bob Cene Park in Struthers. Jacob Pentasuglio earned the save with two scoreless innings of relief as the visitors held the Cardinals (0-1) to just one base runner past first base.

Norton 16, Manchester 3

Norton pounded out 16 hits in a drubbing at Manchester. Par Rockhold hit two singles and a double, and drove in two runs to lead Norton's offense. Clay Crawford and Jarred Pasterchek each recorded a single, a double and two RBI for Norton (1-0).

Logan Langovsky's straight-set win at No. 1 singles led the Bulldogs to a sweep of the host Knights.

 

SOFTBALL

Northwest 7, Minerva 6

Jessica Smith doubled twice and scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Indians evened their record at 1-1. Jordan Marecek had three hits including a home run for Northwest, while Alayna Jones added two singles and a double. Jensen Miller earned the win for the Indians.

Ellet 18, North 0

Senior Sydnie Wolf opened the City Series softball season with a bang, collecting a home run, a double and two singles in Ellet's shutout of North.
