Zips split with Bulls

for first MAC victory

University of Akron senior Laura Lakins' big day at the plate helped earn a split of a home doubleheader with Buffalo, capturing the Zips' first conference win in the process.

Lakins' walk-off single secured a 4-3 victory in the first game but her three-run homer wasn't enough as the Zips (7-19-2, 1-6 MAC) lost 16-6 to the Bulls in the second game.

The senior first baseman drove in six runs with a single, triple and home run.
