Akron, Toledo split
Akron put on an offensive show with 13 hits to beat Toledo 11-5 in the first game of a Mid-American Conference doubleheader before the host Rockets recovered to win the second game 6-1 Saturday.
Zips catcher Sydney Jascoe hit two home runs and had five RBI in the first game. Jascoe's second homer, a three-run blast in the seventh inning, gave the sophomore her first multihomer game and lifted her season total to eight.
Toledo's Erin Hunt help Akron hitless until the sixth inning of the second game to help the Rockets (12-20, 4-4) take two of three from the Zips (8-21-2, 2-9) in the series.

The Broncos took the second game of the three-game weekend series at Kent State, winning 11-1 at Schoonover Stadium.
Western Michigan (8-10, 2-4) quieted the Flashes' bats, allowing five hits and one run in the MAC win. Josh Hollander singled and doubled for Kent State (12-16, 2-4).

at Texas invitational
Kent State was 11th out of 13 teams after the first round of the Aggie Invitational in College Station, Texas. Oklahoma State led at 9 under, with the Golden Flashes 3 shots back at 12 over.
Gisli Sveinbergsson shot a 1-over 73 to lead the Flashes.
