KSU pounds WMU

to take rubber game

Kent State took the weekend series from visiting Western Michigan, slugging out a season-high 17 hits as five players recorded multi-hit games in a 15-3 Mid-American Conference win. It was the first MAC series win of the year for the Golden Flashes (13-6, 3-4).

KSU had seven extra-base hits and drew seven walks against six pitchers. Michael Turner went 4-for-4 at the plate with a double and a walk and three RBI. Kian O'Brien collected three hits and four RBI, including a home run, and Pete Schuler added four RBI and two runs scored on two hits and a walk. Cam Touchette reached base five times with three hits and two walks.

 

WOMEN'S TENNIS

Broncos beat Zips

The University of Akron dropped a 4-3 decision in MAC play on Sunday afternoon in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The Broncos (11-8, 3-1) took the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and 3. The No. 1 doubles team of Rita Pedroso and Miruna Vasilescu won 6-3 for UA (18-5, 3-2).

UA won three singles matches, led by Sophia Geier, who registered the 102nd victory of her collegiate career.

 

WOMEN'S LACROSSE

Flashes fall to Dolphins

Kent State (1-12) lost the second game on its road trip 23-4 to Jacksonville. The Golden Flashes jumped on top 1-0 less than two minutes into the game on Kelli Bailey's sixth goal of the season.

The Dolphins (10-2) responded with six consecutive goals before Reagan Russell fired home a goal on an assist from Madison Rapier. Jacksonville led 18-2 at halftime.

Megan Kozar and Graceyn Dean scored for KSU in the second half.
