BASEBALL

Louisville 3, St. Vincent-St. Mary 0

Cam Lingle threw a no-hitter Wednesday to earn his first win of the year and help the Leopards rebound from a loss Tuesday to the Fighting Irish.

The senior right-hander struck out 11 and was perfect through 6 2/3 innings before an error on a two-strike count allowed a batter to reach first base for St. V-M (5-5).

Garrett Bischof (1-2) did his best to keep the Irish in the game. He gave up two earned runs on three hits, struck out nine but walked six in 6 2/3 innings.

Lake Center Christian 9, Mogadore 6

The Wildcats attempted a monumental comeback but a nine-run deficit proved too large as the Tigers held on for a road win.

Mogadore scored all six of its runs in the bottom of the seventh inning but could not complete the rally.

Mitchel Markusic homered, drove in two and stole a base to lead Mogadore, which outhit Lake Center but was hurt by five errors in the field.

Lake Center's Matt Starcher stood out in all facets. He hurled a 110-pitch complete game, singled twice, scored once and drove in one run.

SOFTBALL

Lake 8, North Canton Hoover 0

Five batters collected multiple hits and the Blue Streaks jumped out to an early lead and never looked back en route to a crucial Federal League victory.

Lauren McMillin cracked a single, a home run and drove in two to lead Lake. Teammate Maggie Pertee added a two-run triple and a single.

In the circle, Jessica LeBeau held Hoover to just two hits in a complete-game win.
