The Browns got to know Denzel Ward a little better last year during their local pro day, and General Manager John Dorsey wound up drafting the cornerback from Nordonia High School and Ohio State a few weeks later at No. 4 overall.

This year, Ohio State defensive tackle Dre'Mont Jones and Massachusetts wide receiver Andy Isabella headlined the Browns' list of local pro day participants.

The team held the workout Friday at its headquarters in Berea and released the names of the 36 participants Monday on its website.

Players who were eligible for the local pro day either grew up or attended college in the area. They don’t count against the limit of 30 national prospects the Browns are allowed to host on official pre-draft visits.

Dane Brugler, analyst for the Athletic, gave Jones a second-round grade in his draft guide, and the Cleveland native is a candidate to be selected by Dorsey at No. 49 overall.

Jones visited his alma mater St. Ignatius High School last week after he auditioned for the Browns.

"He thought it went really well," St. Ignatius football coach Chuck Kyle said Monday by phone. "I think they like him. Let's see what happens."

Isabella, a Mayfield High School graduate, is projected by Brugler to become a second- or third-round pick.

Jones ranks 56th on Brugler's list of the top 100 prospects. Isabella is 64th.

Two well-known prospects who were not in attendance at the Browns' local pro day because they were on pre-draft visits with other teams are Ohio State receiver Parris Campbell (St. Vincent-St. Mary) and Michigan State cornerback Justin Layne (Benedictine).
