Marshall recruit Paige Halliwell hit a solo home run and scored three times in the Wildcats' win at Coventry.

Northwest 5, Massillon 4

Anna Welsh went 2-for-3 and hit a game-winning double in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Indians (8-4) over the Tigers in a nonleague game. Maddie Kurz hit a single and two doubles and Jordan Marecek also went 2-for-3 for Northwest.

 

TENNIS

St. Vincent-St. Mary 3,

Bay Village Bay 2

Ben Rodgers won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles and Dhiren Brickman combined with Michael Puglia to win at No. 1 doubles in three sets as the Irish improved to 7-4.

Norton 4,

Woodridge 1

The Panthers (9-6, 5-2) won all three singles matches in a PTC matchup at Woodridge.

 

BASEBALL

Orrville 5, CVCA 3

The Red Riders kept CVCA out of first place in the Principals Athletic Conference behind Lane Marshall's pitching and hitting. Marshall went six innings and allowed three runs (one earned) on five hits and two walks on the mound, and hit a home run and two doubles with three RBI to lead the Red Riders (8-6, 4-1). CVCA fell to 9-6 and 5-2.

Wadsworth 6, Stow 4

The Grizzlies scored three times in the sixth inning to break a 3-3 tie and beat the Bulldogs in a Suburban League National Conference game. Nolan Kubilus (2-1) picked up the pitching win and Benny Petit earned his first save.

Lake Center Christian 9,

Coventry 5

Kobe Byler collected four hits and Thomas Fulk had three singles to lead Lake Center Christian (4-5 overall) to a Portage Trail Conference crossover win at home. Byler drove in two runs and Fulk scored three times.

Louisville 8,

Massillon 0

Cam Lingle's second consecutive shutout was a three-hit gem with 10 strikeouts. Lingle improved to 2-0 for the Leopards (12-3).

 

GIRLS TRACK

Coventry 66, Ellet 62

The Comets posted a nonleague dual win behind double-winners Ashley Martinez (100-, 300-meter hurdles) and Jasmine Yates (shot put, discus).
