Buchtel, track and field
Barker, a freshman, led Buchtel to the girls team title at the Russ Parsons Invitational in Parkersburg, W.Va. She placed first in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.60 seconds, the 300 hurdles in 47.03, the 1,600 relay in 4:12.06 and the 400 shuttle hurdle relay in 1:15.0. Buchtel scored 136 points and Martinsburg (W.Va.) was second with 108 points.
Hamrick, a junior, led host Nordonia to a 10-6 win over Shaker Heights by hitting a two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning and then hitting a walk-off grand slam in the eighth. He entered the week with three home runs, a .361 batting average, 13 hits, 13 RBI and 10 runs scored in 12 games.
Firestone, track and field
Porter, a senior, set two meet records in the Big Ox Invitational at St. Thomas Aquinas when she won the 200 meters in 25.49 seconds and the 400 in 59.07. She then led Firestone to an 87-44 victory over Buchtel and a 78-47 triumph over host Ellet by placing first in the 100 (12.3), the 200 (26.5), the 400 (1:02.7) and the 800 (2:44).
Roukey, a sophomore, improved to 5-0 when Hudson (10-0, 5-0) topped Wadsworth 1-0 in a Suburban League National Conference game. She allowed one hit and struck out five in the win, and has 50 strikeouts and not allowed an earned run in 31 innings. Roukey also has a .514 batting average with 19 hits and nine RBI.
Walsh Jesuit, baseball
Stahl, a senior, hit three home runs, had eight RBI and scored four runs to lead Walsh to a 12-6 win over host Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy in the championship game of the Cuyahoga Falls City Classic. He entered the week 3-0 as a pitcher, and had a .417 batting average with 15 hits, four home runs, 22 RBI and 13 runs scored.
