Norton, baseball

Aiken, a senior, went 5-for-5 with three doubles, two home runs, six RBI and four runs scored to lift host Norton to a 10-9 win over Field in nine innings on May 1. He entered the middle of this week with a .460 batting average, 23 hits, nine doubles, one triple, two home runs, 30 RBI and 19 runs scored for the 17-0 Panthers.

 

JONATHAN BANKS

Nordonia, track and field

Banks, a sophomore, helped Nordonia score 171½ points to win the boys team title at the Medina Last Chance meet on May 3. Brecksville (110 points) and Medina (101 1/3) rounded out the top three. Banks won the 100 meters (11.3) and contributed to the first-place 800 (1:30.91) and 400 (43.88) relays.

 

FRANKIE FAUSNIGHT

Archbishop Hoban, track and field

Fausnight, a senior, helped Hoban score 149 points to win the North Coast League Blue Division title for the second year in a row. Walsh Jesuit placed second with 99 points and host Parma Padua was third with 77 points. Fausnight finished first in the 110-meter hurdles (15.74 seconds) and the 400 relay (44.71) and was fourth in the 300 hurdles (44.81).

 

DREW RANSOM

Copley, track and field

Ransom, a junior, placed first in the 200 meters (23.09), the 400 (51.27) and the 400 relay (44.53) in a dual meet with Highland on April 30. He then helped Copley finish second to Hudson in the Woodridge Wrap-Up on May 4 with first-places finishes in the 400 (50.71) and the 800 relay (1:31.64), a third in the 400 relay (44.11) and a fourth in the 200 (23.33).

 

BRAYDEN WIGAL

Woodridge, softball

Wigal, a senior, went 3-for-6 with two home runs and one double last week as Woodridge lost to Cloverleaf and earned a win over Waterloo. She entered this week with a .483 batting average, 27 RBI, 22 runs scored and a school-record 11 home runs this season.
