Flashes split doubleheader

Kent State closed out its regular season Mid-American Conference schedule with a doubleheader split at Bowling Green on Saturday.

The Golden Flashes (27-21, 12-8) took the opener 4-3 before dropping the second game 6-2.

Leadoff hitter Ben Carew collected three hits in the two games, extending his hitting streak to 14 games and has reached base safely in 29 consecutive games.

Kian O'Brien singled to left to score Cam Touchette with the winning run in game one, and John Matthews (6-5) got the win with 4 2/3 innings of one-hit relief. He struck out six and walked one.
