Perry 3, GlenOak 2

Perry's seventh-inning postseason magic continued at GlenOak on Thursday when the 10th-seeded Panthers claimed a North Canton Division I sectional title with the second of two seventh-inning comeback wins.

Down 2-0 to start the seventh, Perry (12-11) tied to score on Kasey Centeno's RBI single with one out. One out later, Logan Byers earned the go-head RBI with a bases-loaded walk.

The Panthers advance to play North Canton Hoover in a district semifinal on Tuesday.

North Canton Hoover 7,

Dover 0

Senior Mitchell Maurer limited Dover to three hits and three walks in a shutout of the Tornadoes (22-4) in a North Canton Division I sectional game. Nick Friedl drove in three runs for the Vikings (16-10).

Lake 5,

Austintown Fitch 2

Kyle Aten's complete game led the Blue Streaks (17-10) to a North Canton Division I sectional title and set up a district semifinal game with top-seeded Jackson on Tuesday.

Brunswick 9,

Archbishop Hoban 3

The Blue Devils pounded out 13 hits and Scott Rouse and Noah Herron limited Hoban to just three hits in a Barberton Division I sectional final at Brunswick. Kyle Goessler, Chris Kross (single, double, three RBI), Michael McFadden and Kyle Kuchta each had two hits.

Aurora 9, Woodridge 4

The Greenmen won a Hudson Division II sectional title as Chase Gerbrick, Will Carpenter, Colin McNamara, Johnny Papesh and Michael Carpenter each had multiple hits. Jack Fecko earned the win on the mound for Aurora.

Lake Center Christian 10,

Cuyahoga Heights 0

The seventh-seeded Tigers won a Medina Division IV sectional final behind Will Caudle, who limited the No. 2 seed to just two hits in a shutout. Caudle (4-4) struck out 11 Redskins (16-4), and Blake Sommers hit three singles and drove in two runs for Lake Center Christian (14-9).

 

TENNIS

Northeast Ohio Division I District

Green's Logan Langovsky, the No. 1 seed in the Canton Division I sectional, beat Walsh Jesuit's Patrick Delaney 6-1, 6-0 and then downed Nate Day of Cleveland St. Ignatius 7-5, 6-1 to advance in the Northeast Ohio Division I district at Springside in Akron.

In doubles, Ben Cors and Caleb Miller of Walsh Jesuit will face Jackson seniors Alex Drewes and Bobby Thomas in Saturday's district semifinals after both teams posted two wins on Thursday. On the other side of the bracket, Matt Warburton and Jacob Wood of North Canton Hoover advanced and will try to claim a district title.

 

SOFTBALL

Solon 5, Hudson 3

The Comets (16-7-1) rallied from two deficits (2-0 and 3-2) behind some clutch hitting to beat top-seeded Hudson in the Solon Division I district final. Solon advanced to next week's regional semifinal at the University of Akron to take on Walsh Jesuit.

Solon senior reliever Allie Bican, who entered the game with two outs and the bases loaded in the second inning with her team trailing 2-0, allowed just one run in 5 1/3 innings and also hit an RBI double.

The Explorers (19-2) took a 3-2 lead in the fifth inning when Macy Peck hit a bloop single to shallow center. Solon came back to tie the score 3-3 in the sixth on Juliana Kontul's RBI single, and then took the lead when Kailee Grimm crushed a run-scoring triple to deep center field in the seventh.

Hallie Sutyak, who started in the pitcher’s circle, provided an insurance run for the Comets with a sacrifice fly.
