Flying Squirrels 5, RubberDucks 2

The Richmond Flying Squirrels scored three unearned runs with two outs in the bottom of the fifth to take a 4-2 lead en route to an Eastern League win over the RubberDucks on Saturday.

Wilson Garcia singled in Nellie Rodriguez and Daniel Johnson to give the Ducks (19-22) a 2-0 lead in the first inning.

An error on catcher Logan Ice allowed the Flying Squirrels to cut the lead to 2-1 in the third. It was the first unearned run charged to Ducks starter Tanner Tully, who left with one out in the sixth inning having given up eight hits, no walks and five runs, only one earned.

Kyle Nelson replaced Tully (3-4) with runners at first and third and unloaded a wild pitch that allowed another run to score.

Kieran Lovegrove (2-2) earned the win in relief for the Squirrels (13-25).
