RubberDucks 3, Yard Goats 2

The RubberDucks came out of the mist Thursday and finished a sweep of the Hartford Yard Goats with a win at a soggy Canal Park.

The Ducks (34-31) spotted the Yard Goats (36-27) a run in the fifth and then scored three unearned runs in the bottom of the inning.

A throwing error drove in the first run with Ernie Clement scoring the game-winner on a sacrifice fly. Ka’ai Tom, who has reached base in 23 consecutive games, singled in the final run with a single to right field.

Eli Morgan (5-0, 1.96) gave up five hits in six innings. He gave up two earned runs, walked two and struck out nine to pick the victory.

The RubberDucks open a three-game series against the Portland Sea Dogs at Canal Park on Friday. Right-hander Evan Mitchell (0-1, 6.00) and Sea Dogs left-hander Ty Culbreth (3-6, 4.38) are the scheduled pitchers in a 7:05 p.m. start.
