The visting Altoona Curve scored three runs in the eighth inning and escaped a bases-loaded jam in the ninth to earn an Eastern League victory over the RubberDucks on Monday night at Canal Park.
Powered by a two-run home run by Connor Smith in the fourth and a solo homer by Ka'ai Tom in the fifth, the Ducks (39-44) took a 4-2 lead.
A two-run double by Chris Sharpe and an RBI double by Robbie Glendinning gave the Curve (43-37) the lead.
Reliever Kyle Nelson was charged with the loss.
Beau Sulser (7-0) pitched three scoreless innings in relief to get the win and Matt Eckelman pitched around two hits and a walk in the ninth for his 14th save.
